Situated along the Thames River, the campus waterfront was redeveloped into a multidimensional marine access point including new concrete waterfront retaining walls, earthwork and three new piers. The area features new floating dock systems, facilities, and a new roadway with sidewalks and solar- and wind-powered lighting. The revitalized waterfront now serves the sailing and rowing programs; an outdoor classroom and living laboratory for marine science, environmental research and conservation; and a vibrant recreational space for students, staff and the community. The project was recognized as the 2023 ENR New England Regional, Best Project in Sports/Entertainment Category award.
