Berkeley Divinity School and their community hosted a grand reopening on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Held during Yale Divinity School’s Convocation, the Center and invited guests, including project manager Melissa Saint, attended a ceremony and celebration of the successful completion of the $6 million renovation done by Babbidge Construction along with David Thompson Architects and dme Design.
Home to the deanery and St. Luke’s Chapel, the historic 1910 Mediterranean Revival building is used by students for various programs, weekly worship and visiting ministry. The renovation features interior upgrades, new MEP systems, new elevator, accessibility improvements and an expanded set of guest rooms on the newly finished third floor. What used to be an inaccessible basement is now a garden level with offices, student lounge, study room, and a small prayer chapel. Just outside the lower level is an accessible 2,400 SF bluestone patio for outdoor entertaining.
